Lay Down with Dogs
September 2, 2002 02:14 AM

Since the visit to Paul and Vika's, my obsession with four-legged companions that endlessly funnel time and cash resources away from their masters in return for a couchful of hair has been renewed. Of course, Adam being an allergy sufferer, the pickin's are slim, but not entirely disheartening. I might consider the Bichon Frise, which looks a lot like my old dog. Then there's a whole gaggle of options with hairless pets. But there's just something about a cat with no fur that I can't trust. I could go for the Cockapoo, Malti-poo, or Schnoodle...in a box or with a fox. But I think, so far, there is one dog that really sounds too good to be true. The Basenji doesn't bark, shed, or smell like dog. Instead, they yodel and bathe themselves like cats. What's not to love? The only drawback I've found is that they have a tendency to chew stuff and develop "behavioral problems" (read "destructo") if left alone. Well, maybe I'll just hang out at the pound instead.

check out this dog. It is small, fun loving and has hair not fur. My neighbor has two and they are the only dogs that I can pet and allow to sit on my lap because they do not shed. Her husband has really bad allergies but the dogs do not affect him. She knows a really good breeder if you are interested.
