Blood and Guts: Helena Lazaro
Do You Write Like a Boy or a Girl?
December 7, 2003 11:28 PM

This link was posted on my friendster bulletin board by Holly, that whip-smart little gal! It is a page where you paste in a text of 500 words or more, in the categories of fiction, non-fiction, or blog entry. Then, using some wacky and complicated algorithm stuff that I don't understand, it predicts whether the author is male or female. Either I've really got my voices down, or it's whack. I pasted Sweet Bird, Empty Nest, which has a female voice, and the result was that it was written by a female. Then, I tried Willie's Narrow Escape, which I wrote in a male voice. And it got a male writer!

I'm going to go with the first option--my voices are damn good! Nothing like finding reassurance from an inanimate object to prove I'm desperate for approval.
