Hummer Friendly
February 26, 2004 05:22 PM

Talent (an actor) just showed for a program shooting in our insert stage (empty room).

He said, "I just wanted to let you know that my hummer didn't really fit in any of your spaces downstairs, so I had to park on the street."

This was funny to me for three reasons. 1)This car is so retardedly huge that it effectively renders the driver handicapped. 2)This guy thought the fact his hummer couldn't fit into a normal space was worthy of sharing, and even seemed proud. 3)The Network parking structure, of all places, is unable to accomodate Hummers. How is anyone supposed to be all Blingy if they can't roll up in their H2s?

I hope that he was able to put aside his distress and "go on with the show," as I'm sure the powerhouse performance needed for one of these decade restrospective programs is really quite taxing.

It is for this very reason that I refuse all my friend's peer pressure to buy a Hummvee or H2.... I could not go through drive thrues. But I digress cuz this site is about poetry and NOT about HUMMERS!

I like this sonnet cuz it talks about a peace that surpasses all understanding, complete fulfillment, it is total bullshit, but so idealistic, and dreamy. No one should ever expect such fulfillment thanks to some one else. Therein lies a very terrible mistake in life. But finding peace fulfillment in oneself is possible. I think the romanticism of expecting a soulmate perfect fit jigsaw puzzle piece mate is ok... but that the fulfillment, completion is incumbent on each person NOT relying on the mate for such complementation, but on each person being responsible for thier own singular completion in and of themselves. Then they can truly accept each other for who they are and then truly become a perfect fitting puzzle. Think about this way.... Each jigsaw puzzle piece shows a certain part of the picture, no puzzle piece shows the same picture fragment, or else... there would be no possible way to complete the puzzle.

PEACE

Peace flows into me
As the tide to the pool by the shore;
It is mine forevermore.
It ebbs not back to the sea.

I am the pool of blue.
That worships the vivid sky;
My Hopes were heaven-high.
They are all fulfilled in you.

I am the pool of gold
When sunset burns and dies-
You are my deepening skies.
Give me your stars to hold.

there is a FREE poetry contest with a 10,000 dollar prize. go to poetry.com.

also... I just saw the movie BARFLY for the first time. OH MY GOD. It is clearly one of the top five movies of the eighties and nineties.
It is the best acting, sheer hypnosis to watch and one of the truest portrayals of real life, it is true art on film. I recommend this movie, it is dramatic yet very funny.

And those are the SMALL Hummers. The original Arnold Hummers wouldn't even fit in two lanes on the freeway.
