Blood and Guts: Helena Lazaro
Super Weekend

What a swell weekend! Saturday I went to Disneyland with Adam for his company picnic. It was overcast, so that kept some of the crowd away, which we appreciated. We rode everything fun (thank GOD for the fast pass, the best invention ever), I had a frozen banana, and I didn't even get sunburned! Then we went over to the lounge at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel for pre-dinner drinks, and ate at this lovely restauraunt, Catal, in Downtown Disney. At that point, it became clear that none of us would be re-entering the park. I blame it entirely on the wine. I learned: Figs + Prosciutto=Unfreakingbelievable!

Sunday afternoon I recouperated. Washed my embarrassingly filthy car and then...I opened the box. The box came from David. It is filled with Nintendo Games, which apparently have been in like a locked, temperature-controlled vault since 1989. They are in impeccable condition! Sleeves and manuals included! There is also a Game Genie, which I never had as a kid. I totally beat Mario 2 with it last night. Yeah, how you like my super moon jump? Oh, what, I'm dead? Guess again! Infinite lives, baby!!! Suck that, Triclyde! I learned: Cheating RULES!

If you want to enjoy some NES goodness without going through the Ebay nightmare I did, you can always pick up the new classic NES series for your Gameboy Advance. And you have to check out this stockpile of NES Midis, they're great! Funny how the Boswer's Castle music still gets my adrenaline going.

On a related note, Adam is going to a show for this band, The Minibosses. They play some very rocking covers of NES songs. They are playing at The Smell (which I've never been to) this weekend. It seems like it might be a little scary for an old person like me, but I'm still considering going.

Yay for happy posts like these! Cheating at videogames is the only way to go. :-)
Oh, and nice running into you the other day, too. I can finally put a face to the words and the name!
