Been Better
September 6, 2005 12:35 AM

I have a fever. Looks like just under 100. And a sore throat, with nasal drip. My neck is stiff and my head hurts.

WebMD thinks this might be meningitis.

Rad.

All I can think of are these two remarks Amanda and Jen made this weekend.

Jen: It smells like hot eraser
Amanda: That’s so gay I can’t even think about it without getting AIDS.

When should I go to the hospital? 101?

You poor thing!

Knowing when to go to hospital is tricky, you need to go the moment you're too hot to realize you need to go... (catch 22, if I'm not mistaken)

Here's to you're quick recovery. And remember cognac (brandy) is the best remedy that does not help...

I hope you can feel my cool hand on your forehead?

You are the best!! Man, sympathy is the best cure for whatever ails ya.

I can totally feel the cool hand, it is so nice.

Brandy sounds good...enough so that I can get some real sleep...

I remember once going to the hospital with about a 102 1/2 degree fever. Said the nurse: "wow, we never see people with a fever that high, they're usually so sick they stay home!"

The best cure I know is chicken soup -- not the canned kind, but the homemade kind, which is actually easy-to-make if you stay home for a day (and you could probably do it in two evenings -- one to make the stock, the second to turn the stock into soup). Check out my recipe at http://juniorbird.com/archive/000124.php -- it's guaranteed to cure you right up!

Gargling with warm salt water helps alleviate sore throats...particularly those due to post-nasal drip.

Hope you're feeling better. Take it easy.

You guys are great! I even had a volunteer offering to come bring me a care package!

I'm lucky.

While I probably couldn't handle cooking up that chicken soup even at full speed, I'll keep it in mind. Salt gargles, on the other hand, I can do. As much as I hated them as a kid, they did the trick every time.

Off to do that now.

Awww... I'm sending some anti-nasal-drip mojo your way right now.

And if Claire is going to keep rubbing you like that, I'm going to get some popcorn. BRB.

Feel better. The Jewish mother in me wants to make you some chicken soup (or at least buy it on Faifax).

How about an update on your condition? Hmmm how are ya doing? You know even if you are better, you could probably milk it for a couple more days. :)

Ah good, you've heard of salt gargling. Most people sputter in protest refusing to try it.

I hope you're feeling better today.

I heart you guys. I'm better enough for a rant, and that's saying a lot!

Althought I will continue to accept sympathy, soup, and gifts.
