Blood and Guts: Helena Lazaro
Thunder
September 19, 2005 10:29 PM

There have been flashes of light in the sky all night. I thought maybe a show was going on somewhere. But they were so random.

A few moments ago I thought I heard rain. No, it can't be.

So I checked the weather, 90027.

Sure enough, Thunderstorms predicted.

Then the smell of it hit me.

Rain might be my favorite thing in the world. I hope it goes on all night.

It was FANTASTIC. It's the first rain I've experienced since I moved here: MONTHS AGO.

I miss those boomy New York summer thundershowers... tonight's was far too short.

But the night is young!

I love the rain, and not because The Eurythmics told me to.

I love walking in the rain, the smell of it, how fresh everything is afterwards. I lived in Seattle for four years, and believe it or not, never got sick of the rain. As much as I love California weather, I miss those long, rain-drenched walks.
Thanks for the memories, Helena :)

Isn't it delicious? I may have been singing another tune last year after two weeks straight had my alley-adjacent studio in Venice flooded, but now it's a whole different story.

I have often considered living in Seattle for it. But then I start thinking that, as with everything I like, I enjoy this because I get only small tastes of it.

It leaves me feeling that I want MORE!!

I used to live in that zip!

In the 3+ years I lived in LA, there was one thunderclap. I missed thunderstorms something awful back then.
