Blood and Guts: Helena Lazaro
That Good Old Venom

toothless

you'd like to compare yourself
to a dog
wouldn't you
you'd like to think
that you have
somehow become
the mangy
snarling beast
you purport to be
but you haven't

i'll admit
i once thought of you
as a mean old mutt
baring your teeth each time
my hand came across a spot
that made you feel
vulnerable
or weak
but
your bark
was
your bite
and now
when i see you
i imagine
your mouth all gums
pink and soft
like a cunt

Funny, it makes me think of some friends of mine. They seemed all badass and tough at first, but with time I realized my stubbornness could outlast them any day.

Dear Bloggod,

Thank you for not sending by any old grannies who get mad when I say dirty words in my poems.

Amen.
