Tonight I wasn't sure which way to go. I could write another haiku...
Lunch Today
at noon the heat came
my thoughts, sticky, wouldn't rest
you melt all the ice
but I think that might be getting old. I could post a link to an old poem you've probably never read. Or direct you to the work of other poets. I could even write something brand new, here and now, just for you.
A Card would Suffice
All your best work--
every poem like a firecracker
jammed into a cat's ass--
it's from me.
I gave it to you
in the dark.
Like another glass of wine,
like a home-cooked dinner,
like an extra cigarette I lit
and handed over,
I gave you those words.
If I hadn't made you crazy
you'd still be writing about
that one slut you nailed
in a motel fifteen years ago.
The least you could do
is fucking thank me.
Truthfully, though, all I really wanted to do tonight was post pictures of this GREAT PURSE I made!! It's my first ever purse and only my fourth or fifth ever sewing project, and I'm really proud of it. I made it using vintage fabric and a great vintage button, and it took just over an hour from start to finish. Purses and wallets are items I hope to feature on the upcoming craft site, so I thought maybe I should get started on learning how to make them. Pretty presumptuous, isn't it, to just assume I'll be able to do something without having tried? It's funny how in some ways, I have a complete lack of confidence...but in others, there's never a moment of doubt.
Anyhow, it really cheered me up to make something new (I've had..."crafter's block," I guess, for several days now), and greatly improved my mood (which has been "pretty shitty," I guess, for several days now). I promise I'm not going to turn this site into a really gay craft-blog, I just wanted to post this one little doo-dad.

More poetry
Great work with the poem and the purse! If you do start making wallets then for god's sake please make one that doesn't snap all of my credit cards while it's in my back pocket. You'd think that'd be a fundamental element of the design really, but it appears not. Any comments about having less of a fat ass instead will be treated with the requisite level of disdain.
Posted by: J on September 14, 2006 02:01 AMI love the fabric!! And, as always, great poetry. Most likely the only person I know who could use "cat's ass" in a poem and make it work.
Posted by: Jenn on September 14, 2006 09:52 AMAbout an hour start to finish on your first purse? I'm impressed. Good job!
Posted by: claire on September 16, 2006 03:12 PMI'm a total purse whore, so you can take it as a great compliment when I say, "It's fucking fabulous!"
Wear it somewhere good.
